**Tragic Incident in Manchester: Two Teens Arrested after 14-Year-Old’s Death**

In a heartbreaking event that has shaken the community of New Moston, Manchester, two teenagers have been apprehended on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old boy. The police responded promptly to an emergency call around 5:00 PM (BST) on a Sunday evening at Nevin Road, an area that has now been cordoned off for investigation.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers along with paramedics and an air ambulance found the boy suffering from grievous stab wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he tragically succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, confirmed the Greater Manchester Police (GMP). This distressing situation has left many residents in the vicinity shocked and troubled.

The arrested suspects include two boys aged 14 and 16, and they have been taken into custody for further questioning related to the murder. Additionally, a 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were detained under the suspicion that they may have assisted an offender in this case.

A spokesperson for GMP expressed the gravity of the situation, stating that all four individuals remain in custody as investigations continue into this “distressing and heartbreaking incident”. Witnesses noted that shortly after being stabbed, the victim ran to a nearby residence seeking help. A resident recounted that the boy entered their home, in a state of panic, pleading with them, “I don’t want to die.”

In the chaos that ensued, the resident described how they immediately called for an ambulance while accommodating the boy, hoping to provide some immediate relief in his time of grave need. The chilling reality of the boy’s words, “I don’t want to die,” has resonated with many in the community, reflecting the dire nature of the incident that unfolded.

The aftermath of the stabbing has left police personnel examining multiple crime scenes, as several locations, particularly around the Fairway Inn pub on the corner of Nuthurst Road and Broadway, remain blocked off to the public. Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton emphasized the significant resources being deployed to this murder investigation, indicating that the community’s shock and sadness have not gone unnoticed.

Authorities are working diligently to gather more information surrounding the incident, while they remain committed to ensuring justice is served for the young victim and his family, who are currently being supported by police officers. In a move to assist the inquiry, GMP has appealed to the public for any information related to the event, including doorbell or dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts from those who might have witnessed the scene.

Community sentiment regarding knife crime has escalated following the incident, prompting concerns among residents. Fran Hicklin, an 80-year-old local, remarked on the prevalent worry over knife-related violence in society, especially for the well-being of her grandchildren. She expressed real fears over their safety in a world where such horrific acts seem increasingly common.

This grievous event in New Moston has highlighted a disturbing trend facing many communities and has called for a broader conversation about safety, youth violence, and preventative measures to avert similar tragedies in the future. As investigations proceed, the local community holds its breath, hoping for justice and healing amidst sorrow.
