CNN Chief National Correspondent John King has embarked on a journey to listen to voters all over the map, starting with Nikki Haley supporters in Pennsylvania. These voters, who cast more than 158,000 primary votes for Haley even after she dropped out of the race, could be the key swing voters in the upcoming election.
In the first episode of the three-part series, King travels to Pennsylvania to hear from these voters who are unsure about their choices between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. The podcast, All Over the Map, aims to share the stories and perspectives of voters in a more detailed and intimate way than traditional news coverage.
One voter, Linda Rooney, from Media, Pennsylvania, expressed her frustration with the limited choices in the election, stating, “I’m sad that we only have these two choices honestly.” Another voter, Michael Pesce, a Reagan Republican from Doylestown, also shared his journey from a Trump supporter in 2016 to a Biden voter in 2020.
The podcast also explores how Biden’s win in Georgia in 2020 has influenced voters in the state, as well as delving into the challenges and cracks in Biden’s coalition. From a Palestinian American law student in Dearborn, Michigan, to a Black entrepreneur in Milwaukee, voters from diverse backgrounds and experiences share their perspectives on the upcoming election.
As the election draws closer, the podcast aims to shed light on the opinions and struggles of voters who may not fully support either major-party candidate. The hope is that by listening to these stories, listeners will gain a better understanding of the complexities and nuances of the political landscape in America today.
Listeners are encouraged to tune in to The Assignment with Audie Cornish to listen to the All Over the Map podcast series and explore the diverse voices and perspectives of voters across the country.
