In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, Joe Alwyn has publicly commented on the end of his relationship with Taylor Swift for the first time. Alwyn stated, “anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years.” He also mentioned the challenge of having the breakup suddenly become public knowledge just a week later.
Swift and Alwyn first started dating in 2016 and parted ways in April 2023. Swift has since moved on and is now in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. In April, Swift released an album titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” which fans speculate includes references to her past relationship with Alwyn.
When asked about the album, Alwyn did not confirm if he has listened to it but commented, “There is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that.” Despite keeping their relationship largely private, Swift had hinted at Alwyn’s presence in her music in the past. They also collaborated on songs for her Grammy-winning album “Folklore” in 2020.
Over a year after their breakup, Alwyn shared that he has found peace and feels fortunate to be in a great place both professionally and personally. “I feel really good,” he expressed.
