As a devoted entertainment reporter, I must confess that the phenomenon of “Game of Thrones” and its prequel “House of the Dragon” has never resonated with me. Despite my love for pop culture, historical fiction, and fantasy series like “Lord of the Rings” and “Shadow and Bone,” I just couldn’t seem to connect with George R.R. Martin’s epic saga of power struggles in Westeros and Essos.
Even after attempting to read the books and watch the series, I found the dark and brutal world of “Game of Thrones” to be too much for me. The characters, with their questionable morals and ruthless pursuits, failed to capture my interest. While I appreciate the show’s popularity and cultural impact, it simply doesn’t align with my preferences.
With the premiere of “House of the Dragon,” I gave the franchise another chance, but once again, it didn’t click for me. Despite the anticipation surrounding the new season, I have come to terms with the fact that these shows are not meant for everyone.
In the end, I stand by my choice to opt out of the “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon” craze. While I respect the fandom and the creativity of the series, it’s just not my cup of tea. And that’s okay. As I continue to explore the vast world of entertainment, I embrace the diversity of tastes and preferences that make each of us unique.
