In a shocking turn of events, Jack Titus, a 32-year-old model who fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming an American, underwent a procedure called keratopigmentation to permanently change his eye color from dark to blue-gray. Despite the warnings issued by the American Academy of Ophthalmology regarding the risks associated with such cosmetic procedures, Titus expressed gratitude for the surgery, stating that he loves the results and finds it much easier to wake up every day.
Keratopigmentation involves injecting pigment into the cornea to hide the original color of the iris, creating a permanent eye color change. Dr. Alexander Movshovich, who developed a surgical instrument for this procedure, has performed nearly 1,000 eye color change surgeries. Initially skeptical about the safety of such surgeries, Movshovich eventually became intrigued by the procedure, which he describes as a form of art that taps into his interests as a photographer.
Despite concerns about risks such as dye leakage, allergic reactions, infection, and potential damage to the cornea, Movshovich maintains that he takes all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of his patients. Patients like Reva Stout, a 49-year-old Navy veteran, have also undergone this procedure to achieve the desired eye color change. Stout, who opted for a lighter shade of brown, expressed satisfaction with the results and experienced minimal discomfort during the process.
While some believe that people with green or blue eyes are more successful or lucky, others simply desire a change for cosmetic reasons or to stand out. Movshovich’s patients often cite feeling more like themselves after the surgery, and Stout mentioned that she is now really happy with her new eye color. Despite the concerns and skepticism surrounding the procedure, those who have undergone keratopigmentation are pleased with their results and feel more confident in their appearance.
