The Democratic National Convention on Tuesday was not your typical roll call vote. Hosted by DJ Cassidy, each state’s delegation got the chance to cast their ceremonial votes for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris while jamming out to some iconic songs. From “Sweet Home Alabama” for Alabama to “California Love” for California, delegates got to show off their state pride with their song selections.
The party really got started when rapper Lil Jon made a surprise appearance representing Georgia with a performance of his hit song “Get Low,” with a special twist honoring VP Harris and Governor Walz. DJ Cassidy kept the energy up for over an hour, creating a state-specific playlist that had everyone dancing.
This event was not DJ Cassidy’s first rodeo – he has previously worked for former president Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Jay-Z, among others. He emphasized the importance of the event, calling it a “celebration of democracy, freedom, and the future.”
Overall, the roll call vote was a fun and energetic way for delegates to show their support for Kamala Harris and the Democratic party.
