In breaking news, a Texas man identified as Timothy Muller, 43, has been taken into custody by the Justice Department on Thursday for making threats against an FBI agent involved in the federal investigation surrounding Hunter Biden. Muller faces charges of making interstate threats and trying to influence or obstruct a federal official, and could potentially face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
Although the court documents do not reveal the identity of the targeted FBI agent, sources familiar with the case have disclosed that the agent is part of special counsel David Weiss’ team, which is tasked with investigating President Joe Biden’s son.
Muller’s lawyer has not yet responded to requests for comments, and the suspect has not entered a plea in court as of now.
The arrest comes amidst a surge in violent threats against Justice Department employees and federal agents, particularly those linked to high-profile investigations like the one involving Hunter Biden. Attorney General Merrick Garland condemned these threats in a recent Washington Post op-ed, characterizing them as “baseless, personal and dangerous.”
Court documents indicate that Muller placed a threatening call to the FBI agent shortly after Hunter Biden was found guilty on three felony gun charges by a federal jury in Delaware. In a voicemail, Muller allegedly threatened to kill the agent and their family, stating, “You can run, but you can’t f**king hide.”
Further texts from Muller to the agent’s phone contained more threats, including references to the 2020 presidential election and derogatory language towards the agent’s family. The FBI and Justice Department are taking these threats seriously and are pursuing further action against Muller.
