Breaking News: Sean “Diddy” Combs Arrested in Manhattan
In a significant development, musician and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested, as confirmed by his attorney to CNN.
Sources indicate that the arrest took place at a Manhattan hotel on Monday night, with Combs currently undergoing processing. Details regarding the specific charges remain unclear at this time.
Marc Agnifilo, an attorney representing Combs, expressed disappointment over the situation, stating, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
Agnifilo further emphasized that Combs has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation, having relocated to New York last week in preparation for potential charges. Combs’ legal team maintains his innocence, asserting he has “nothing to hide.”
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but is not criminal,” Agnifilo told CNN. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Earlier this year, Combs became embroiled in a lengthy sex trafficking investigation led by the Homeland Security Investigations agency. This probe included searches of the musician’s residences in Los Angeles and Miami in March.
Since November, Combs has faced ten lawsuits, with nine directly accusing him of sexual assault. Several of the accusers have reportedly met with federal investigators as part of the extensive investigation.
In May, CNN exclusively reported that federal investigators were preparing to present accusers of Combs before a federal grand jury for testimony. This marked a crucial escalation in the government’s investigation, hinting at the Justice Department’s intentions to possibly seek an indictment against the rapper and businessman.
Combs has consistently denied all wrongdoing associated with the various lawsuits. However, he did issue a public apology following the release of surveillance footage earlier this year that depicted him assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, in a Los Angeles hotel in March 2016.
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
