Jane’s Addiction Cancels Remaining Tour Dates After On-Stage Altercation
In a significant blow to fans, Jane’s Addiction has announced the cancellation of their remaining tour dates following an on-stage altercation between band members Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro. The announcement was made on Monday through a statement posted on the band’s official Instagram page, where they revealed that they have “made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group.”
The altercation seems to have stemmed from ongoing challenges within the group, as Navarro, along with fellow bandmates Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery, issued a joint statement on their personal Instagram accounts shortly after the announcement. The statement indicated that the cancellation was a consequence of a “continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell.”
“Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” they expressed in their message.
The three musicians offered their “regret” regarding the canceled tour but noted they “can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.” They concluded their statement with the poignant remark, “Our hearts are broken.”
CNN has reached out to a representative for Perry Farrell for comment on the situation.
Refunds for the canceled dates will be processed at the point of purchase for ticket holders, and those who bought tickets through third-party resale sites are encouraged to contact them directly for assistance.
The situation escalated on Friday when Farrell and Navarro were seen confronting each other on stage during a concert in Boston, which was captured on video. Initially, Jane’s Addiction had planned to resume their tour in Toronto on Wednesday after having canceled a concert in Connecticut on Sunday due to the altercation.
The tour was set to conclude in Los Angeles in October, leaving fans disappointed over the last-minute cancellations.
