Pop star Bebe Rexha recently revealed that she was involved in a concerning incident with a Lufthansa airline worker, who she claims threatened her for being Albanian. In tearful posts on her Instagram story, Rexha, who was born in the United States to Albanian parents, expressed her distress over the situation. She stated, “Lufthansa, I’ve been threatened because I thought the security agent was Albanian. I spoke to him in Albanian asking where to get my ticket and now he is banning me from the flight.”
Rexha went on to assert that she believes this incident to be a hate crime against her nationality. She further described the worker’s behavior as “continued mental abuse,” criticizing the lack of intervention from female staff at Lufthansa.
The singer-songwriter emphasized the emotional toll this experience has taken on her and called for a full investigation by the German airline. In response to the situation, a Lufthansa spokesperson stated to CNN that they are looking into the matter following direct communication with Rexha.
The spokesperson emphasized Lufthansa’s commitment to connecting people globally and condemned any form of discriminatory behavior. Despite the incident, Rexha was able to board her flight as scheduled.
Known for hits like “Meant to Be,” “Me, Myself & I,” and “In the Name of Love,” Rexha’s career has seen significant success over the years. Her latest single “I’m Good (Blue)” recently topped the UK official singles chart in 2022.
